No matter how great your art, your product, you public policy, your generous act, your thoughtful suggestion, etc…you can rest assured, at least half the people won’t like or agree with it.
That’s ok. It’s not for them.
If you need a statistical goal to shoot for and feel like you’ve succeeded in your chosen endavour, aim for 51 percent.
While that gets you an F in school, for most things in life, it’s an A.

while I usually hail your daily thoughts as brilliance in black and white, I have to take umbrage with this one. (Right? Like I’m proving your own post here).
First yeah there’re two points here), never ‘Aim’ for 51 percent. True you won’t get all of them but to get 51?you need to aim higher; say 75. Shoot for 75 and you’ll get your 51. And be satisfied with that.
I’d learned you can divide your audience into three sections. 1/3 will love you no matter what you do. 1/3 will never like your work (no matter what you do). Your focus should be on that rich middle third.
Second: Be true to your own vision, your own voice, don’t cater or pander to the masses. All the greats had this in common. They sand their own truth and in doing so, changed the world. Remember everyone thought the world was flat until someone finally looked across the horizon and whispered, “but is it?”

Great thoughts. Thank you Michael for always reading and commenting. Agreed, “aim” might not be the best word choice as “51 percent” is really the goal. Not the target.
