“Attention is the most basic form of love.” -Tara Brach
“In the West there is a loneliness, which I call the leprosy of the West. In many ways, it is worse than our poor in Calcutta…We can cure physical diseases with medicine, but the only cure for loneliness, despair, and hopelessness is love. There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a little love.” -Mother Teresa
“A Rabbit Noticed My Condition” by St. John of the Cross
I was sad one day and went for a walk;
I sat in a field.
A rabbit noticed my condition and
came near.
It often does not take more than that to help at times-
to just be close to creatures who
are so full of knowing,
so full of love
that they don’t
-chat,
they just gaze with
their
marvelous understanding.
Anywhere and everywhere you can, help people feel a little less lonely.
It’s not that hard. Start by noticing them. Give them your full, undivided attention. This is love.
